The Intern will assist the fundraising team with all tasks relating to Oxfam Unwrapped, an alternative gifting initiative whereby each gift represents an item that is essential to Oxfam Ireland’s programme work.

Location: Oxfam Ireland, 115 North Street, Belfast

Responsible to: Donor Development Manager

Allowance: Local transport costs and lunch

Starting date of internship: 13th October 2014 - 16th January 2015

Hours of work: Full time, 36 hours, five days per week (flexible hours)

Main Responsibilities

The Intern will assist the fundraising team with all tasks relating to Oxfam Unwrapped, an alternative gifting initiative whereby each gift represents an item that is essential to Oxfam Ireland’s programme work. For further details on Unwrapped, visit www.oxfamireland.org/unwrapped/how-it-works

Primary responsibilities

  • Fulfill and post Unwrapped web, postal and phone orders
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers who will assist you in the processing of daily Unwrapped gift orders
  • Maintain relationship with all Oxfam Shops in relation to Unwrapped, including providing assistance with shop training and re-stocking material as and when required
  • Respond to email and telephone enquiries from the public and Oxfam supporters
  • Manage stock levels

Other duties

  • Co-ordinate a small number of external sales stands for Unwrapped
  • Assist with mailings, events and ad hoc administrative duties as directed by the Fundraising Manager

Key Skills

  • A desire to end the injustice of poverty around the world
  • Interest in fundraising and in NGOs
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Accuracy in written work and data processing
  • Excellent English and telephone manner are essential
  • Excellent administration skills
  • Strong organizational skills and self motivated
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positive attitude, particularly to learning new tasks and skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
