Our client Network Personnel was established in 1989 to address the skills and employment needs of those living in the Magherafelt area. Since then it has won and successfully delivered several major training programmes. With a staff team of 80+ it is now a major employer in its own right. Network Personnel is currently one of the top performers in Northern Ireland in terms of Back to Work/employability initiatives.  

Their major key strength is the expertise of the team who work in the company. The company has a very low staff turnover with a strong emphasis on Continuous Personal Development. Staff are committed and enthusiastic about their work and those who are client facing have a strong empathy with their target groups.  

As a result of continued growth and ongoing development they wish to appoint a suitably experienced and qualified Facilitators (Life & Vocation Skills) based in Antrim and Coleraine respectively working on the Community Family Support Programme.

Locations:                                

Post 1, Based in Antrim with facilitating responsibilities within Mid and East Antrim, and Antrim and Newtownabbey district council areas.

Post 2, Based in Coleraine with facilitating responsibilities within Causeway Coast and Glens, and Mid Ulster council areas

                                                   

CFSP Aim

The aim of the CFSP will be to support families with a high level of need to develop their capacity to reach their full potential by addressing the employment, educational, training, health, social and economic issues that impact on their daily lives.

The three components of the programme will be to provide:-

  • an employability mentoring support service to address family members (of 16+years) educational, employment and training needs;

  • a family support and referral service to address family members’ health, social and economic needs; and

  • a mentoring support service to address family members  aged 13 to 16 educational needs to help prevent them falling into the not in education, employment or training (NEET) category.

    Eligibility

    • Each family participating on the programme must have a young person aged 16 to 24 years in the not in education, employment or training (NEET) category.

    •  A typical profile of a family is one with multiple needs to be addressed (employment, educational, training, health, social and economic) and is volunteering to develop their capacity to improve their lives.

      The CFSP will support families and family members:-

  • address issues that are preventing participants finding and sustaining employment, for example essential skills, self-confidence, motivation, lack of social skills, qualifications and experience. Develop solutions to overcome these issues;

  • develop skills to find work, for example completing CVs, job-searching and preparation for job interviews;

  • access suitable education, employment and training opportunities; 

  • address family health, social and economic issues, for example parenting skills, alcohol and drug misuse,  healthy eating, stress, money management and isolation. Referral to other organisations for specialist support; and

  • address the educational needs of young people aged 13 to 16 years in partnership with schools, parents and educational welfare officers to improve for example punctuality, school attendance and homework routine.

     

     

     

     

    Main Duties and Responsibilities:-

     

    • Be responsible for the delivery of personal development, vocation related skills such as First Aid, Food Hygiene, Manual Handling, money management and budgeting training for participants on Network Personnel’s Community Family Support Programme- in both group and one-to-one settings.
    • Be responsible for the delivery of any other relevant training egg Essential Skills - (ICT/Numeracy/Literacy) as/when required.
    • Create and maintain a warm, welcoming and supportive training environment, responsive to the needs of participants with complex issues and multiple barriers to learning.
    • Assess individual needs, ensuring that participants understand the requirements/relevance of their training paths.
    • Plan, deliver and evaluate a range of innovative, tailored training packages that are relevant to local industry/employment opportunities.
    • Develop a comprehensive range of training materials and learning plans that meet the standards of the Awarding Organisation (e.g. OCN) for each specific qualification.
    • Be responsible for the on-going review and development of learning plans and evaluative processes in order to fulfil the requirements of the DEL/ESF
    • Be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive records of participant attendance and progress.
    • Ensure that safe working practices are adopted in compliance with relevant health and safety procedures.
    • Provide learning-related mentoring/support for training participants as/when required
    • Maintain a high standard of training and assessment and ensure performance targets are achieved.
    • Working alongside CFS Employment Engagement Officers to actively recruit participants for training ensuring that training targets are achieved
    • Liaise with awarding bodies and oversee the verification of qualifications.  Act as internal verifier where appropriate.
    • Keep up to date, accurate records of all training delivered, in accordance quality assurance standards.
    • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children, and vulnerable adults, working within Network Personnel / Workspace Group safeguarding policies.
    • Understand and promote equality, diversity and rights.
    • Develop and sustain effective working relationships with the CFSP Team and other organisations, ensuring there is an understanding of objectives and the plans to reach the targets
    • Provide statistical reports to assist with the monitoring and evaluation of the programme in a timely manner.
    • Be target driven, ensuring all DEL/ESF and organisational targets are achieved, review with line manager outcomes against performance targets and reflect on practice.
    • Undertake staff development activities that shall enhance individual and organisational performance.
    • Maintain and develop relevant skills and work to the highest professional standards.
    • Comply with relevant policies and procedures e.g. Health and Safety, Child Protection, Data Protection, Confidentiality etc.
    • Ensure consistency of quality of delivery and reporting issues as they arise.
    • Attend and participate in team meetings.

 

    • Be flexible in approach, performing any other relevant tasks deemed necessary by Management team to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of the CFSP operational plan
    • Apply all of the above, in accordance with DEL/ESF and Network Personnel/Workspace Group organisational guidelines

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

Essential Criteria

 

  • Relevant qualification preferred, e.g. City and Guilds 9281 series qualification, 9285 Certificate in Teaching Adults

  • Cert. Ed. or relevant PGCE or willingness to acquire appropriate adult teaching qualification.

  • Skills for life tutors will be expected to commit to additional training to meet DEL / ESF standards

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Lead the group in an informal but structured way.

  • Work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Motivate students and encourage participation.

  • Design and deliver effective education/training in compliance with awarding bodies e.g. OCN.

  • Promote Equal Opportunities in practice.

  • Accomplish administrative tasks effectively.

    • Capable of motivating students with little confidence.
    • Competent in working on an individual basis with young people who require additional support.
    • Certified to facilitate a range of workshops and qualifications such as in First Aid, Food Hygiene, Personal development, Manual Handling, money management, and relevant transferrable skills for employment.
    • Valid certification of completion for Safeguarding training in Children and Vulnerable Adults

Experience

  • At least one years’ teaching/training or other relevant experience.

  • An understanding of the culture of the workplace/supportive of the CFSP

  • A critical understanding of society and how it functions.

  • Understanding of Equal Opportunities issues and their relation to our work.

  • Teaching or group work experience, with young people aged 16+ years old.

  • Experience of designing courses and teaching materials.

  • A qualification in the teaching subject offered or evidence of competence to teach it.

  • A teaching qualification, preferably in adult education or training.
