Network Personnel was established in 1989 to address the skills and employment needs of those living in the Magherafelt area. Since then it has won and successfully delivered several major training programmes. With a staff team of 80+ it is now a major employer in its own right. Staff are committed and enthusiastic about their work and those who are client facing have a strong empathy with their target groups.  

As a result of continued growth and ongoing development they wish to appoint a suitably experienced and qualified Employment & Training Officer. 

Job Purpose:

To assist with the day to day delivery of the ‘Work It’ programme aimed at helping unemployed young people and adults find long term work by using a combination of subsidised jobs, training, community projects and personal development activities. The jobholder is further tasked with marketing the programme to potential participants.

Key Responsibilities:

    • To identify participants for the programme through effective pro-active marketing of the service in the designated geographical areas.
    • To carry out one to one interviews with participants, conduct initial assessments, inductions and formulate appropriate Learning and Development plans.
    • To identify appropriate subsidised employment opportunities for participants.
    • Liaise directly with external training providers and negotiate/arrange appropriate training solutions.
    • To help identify and facilitate community projects.
    • To organise and engage in team building and personal development activities
    • To have accountability for compliance with Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults policy and procedures.
    • To be supportive, respectful and empathic to participants and provide a holistic support package in order to improve their chances of gaining suitable long term employment.
    • To carry out formal employment inductions with participants and employers ensuring that all appropriate insurances are in place.
    • To meet participants on a regular basis to review progress
    • To ensure regular communications with host companies to monitor participant’s attendance and progression in line with the aims of their Learning and Development plans.
    • To refer participants on to alternative services/programmes if appropriate. 
    • To maintain up to date participant records and inspect weekly timesheets for compliance with funder requirements
    • To produce accurate and timely statistical reports as and when requested and oversee all general administration procedures.
    • To undertake training courses in order to meet the ongoing skills requirements of the Company.
    • To attend and actively participate in all meetings.
    • To adhere to all health and safety requirements set down by the management.
    • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post.

 

Personal Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • A qualification at Level 3 or higher in a relevant discipline

  • A minimum of 1 year’s previous employment experience in a role encompassing marketing/liaison with the public or with members of the community or private sector.

  • At least 1 years’ experience of carrying out job search activities and sourcing work placements for those who are unemployed

  • Knowledge of a range of vocational training and return to work programmes

  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written

  • Ability to work enthusiastically and flexibly as part of a team

  • Experience of record keeping and report writing

  • Conscientious – reviews work carefully for completeness and accuracy.

  • A high degree of initative

  • As outreach travel is involved, applicants must have a full, clean driving licence and access to a car
