Direct Volunteering Services Manager - Northern Ireland
£27,000 - £30,000 + car/car allowance and benefits
Fixed term - 12 months

Volunteers are central to Macmillan’s ambition to reach and improve the lives of everyone affected by cancer.

Already working in a volunteer management or service development role, you will understand just how important our volunteers are to us. Essential to everything we do, we are committed to providing the best possible volunteering experience for everyone who gives their time to Macmillan and to developing new volunteering roles that meet the changing needs of the one in three of us who will get cancer.

As one of 12 new posts supporting our direct volunteering service programme providing emotional and practical help to people affected by cancer across the UK, you will use your experience of involving volunteers and project management skills to develop and sustain a network of high quality services that are delivered in people’s homes or the wider community.

Your track record in successfully developing and managing volunteering projects working directly with vulnerable service users, coupled with your understanding of the wider health and social care agenda, will enable you to meet the complex support and safeguarding needs of multiple volunteers and service users and ensure best practice is embedded in all stages of each project.

You will need demonstrable coaching, training and facilitation skills as well as the confidence, professionalism, communication and influencing skills to deal effectively with people at all levels of any organisation and within the community.  You will be a key member of your local service development team and will work closely with colleagues responsible for developing a wide range of cancer services across your region.

In return for your own commitment, we commit to actively developing you and our benefits include BUPA, life assurance, pension, childcare vouchers, generous leave, and interest free loans for season ticket and gym membership.

The role involves daily travel in the normal course of the work and is eligible for a lease car or car allowance (currently £350 per month).  Some evening and out-of-hours work will also be required, including being part of an on-call rota to deal with welfare concerns (for which an additional payment will be made) and occasional stays away from home.

All job offers are made subject to an enhanced Access NI disclosure.

Applications are completed and submitted on line on the careers opportunities page on Macmillan's website: https://jobs.macmillan.org.uk/jobs/vacancy/direct-volunteering-services-manager---northern-ireland-2847/2874/description/
