Ashton Community Trust is currently recruiting for an Employer and Education Support Officer who will support young people to progress into Employment or Further Education/Training

JOB BACKGROUND:

 This post is part of the Ashton Centre’s Core Project which will work with young people not in employment, education or training.

The post will involve the progression of Core clients into employment, further education or training.  They will establish and maintain excellent working relationships with employers for the purpose of supporting clients into work across Belfast for a range of different employment contracts. They will develop processes to ensure the client stays in work and that the employer receives ongoing contact and support.  They will also build relationships with further education and training providers in order to assist the progression of clients onto education and training programmes.
 
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 1.To work with a caseload of job ready clients in order to place them into placements, work experience or directly into employment

2.To engage with employers to create job opportunities for Core clients

3.To work with employers who have employed Core clients in a support role thus ensuring that they get a high quality employment service that they will use again

4.To maintain a follow up after care service for both client and employer to ensure that they got long term support for up to a year after placement

6.To gather information and evidence on the destination of Core clients once they are placed in employment

7.To work closely with education and training providers in order to create progression pathways for Core clients

8.To support clients in the transition into further education and training

9.To provide an aftercare service for clients placed in education and training in order to minimise drop out

10.Work closely with Core mentoring team to inform them of clients progress in employment

11.To ensure accurate recording of all information related to the project, produce monthly progress reports against targets and attend meetings as required.

12.Undertake health & safety assessments of placements as necessary, ensuring all legal obligations are met and all policies and procedures are adhered to.

13.Performing any other duties as required by the line manager and that are commensurate with the grade of the post
 
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES


·Undertake any other related responsibilities commensurate with the evolving objectives of the post and the evolution of the Ashton Community Trust, as may reasonably be requested by the Director

·Work flexibly on evenings, weekends and during school holidays to ensure full delivery of the programme.

·Undertake training in order to develop work related skills and knowledge.

·Work with due regard for Ashton Community Trust’s core values and objectives

·Ensure the effective implementation of and adherence to, the Trust’s policies and procedures

·Participate in Ashton Community Trust’s Performance Management and Appraisal process, and agree short, medium and long term goals with line manager, and direct line staff.

·Identify learning and development needs with your line manager and evaluate T&D to demonstrate needs have been met.

·Share best practice and achievements, and contribute to opportunities to present outcomes and case studies.

Status of the Job Description

 Essential Criteria


  •     Possess a level three qualification or above relevant to the role (relevant qualifications may include advice and guidance, careers advice, business, recruitment)
  •     At least one years experience in a role working with employers and the unemployed with the intention of creating employment  (Number of years experience    may be increased should there be a need to facilitate manageable shortlists)
  •     Ability to establish new relationships with employers and generate new vacancies opportunities for our clients.
  •     Ability to work with education and training providers with a view to progressing young people into education or training
  •     Ability to analyse employment opportunities, and propose strategic solutions to creating work placement and  paid job opportunities for long term unemployed clients
  •     Ability to communicate and negotiate in a clear and  persuasive manner
  •     Ability to work as part of a team and prioritise tasks and deliver targets on time.
  •     Ability using own initiative, to make effective decisions, plan and prioritise a substantial workload
  •     Ability to adhere to complex reporting requirements for a range of funders and management
  •     Good knowledge of I.T. systems including databases; ability to use MS office (Word, Excel) Internet and Email;
  •     Ability to work flexible hours
  •     Car driver and have access to transport appropriate the post

 
Desirable Criteria

Experience of working with young people Not in Employment Education or Training (NEET)

Knowledge of funded programmes such as European Social Funded programmes
