NSPCC

From 24000 To 27000

We’re here to end cruelty to children. Nothing else will do.

These are challenging but exciting times for the voluntary sector, yet we know that in this climate children are at greater risk of abuse. We’re here to end cruelty to children in the UK. It’s an aspiration which will take time but nothing less will do. We believe that we can make a difference for all children - by fighting for their rights, by listening to them, by helping them when they need us and by making them safe. Every childhood is worth fighting for.

The NSPCC strategy requires the Society to have a strong public presence, and strives to achieve our vision to end cruelty to children through providing services to children and policy, influencing and campaigning work. The role of the Communications function, working alongside and in partnership with other NSPCC divisions and functions, is critical to making this happen by maximising our influence and profile in the public, government and service arenas in order to achieve our mission.

The NSPCC National and Regional Communications team is responsible for all our interactions with the media, be it through printed media, broadcast or digital and across the UK nationally, devolved nations and regionally. The team works collaboratively across the NSPCC to develop a strategic NSPCC presence in the public eye, creating a strong media platform for the NSPCC to publicise its work to end cruelty to children.

The role of the regional Communications Officer is to develop the NSPCC’s local presence in Northern Ireland and to ensure that all our regional communication on behalf of the organisation is of the highest standard, consistent with the NSPCC’s brand and key messages. The role is also responsible for dealing with the diverse range of media making contact with the NSPCC on a daily basis for comment on children’s issues. As a key Communications representative in the regions, the role also supports the full range of communications disciplines including internal communications, marketing communications and corporate affairs.

The post holder will have experience of working in a communications environment and will have a full understanding of all communications disciplines and the external media environment. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills are key to the role. A highly creative individual, the post holder will have a proven ability of working with and through other teams and departments to maximise results for an organisation.
