The task of the NW Civic Activist is to oversee the coordination of the overall project.

Principle Duties & Tasks

 

  • Coordinate the overall management of the project.
  • Recruit participants for the project in collaboration with partner groups.
  • Promote the overall project and associated project events/activities.
  • Compile press releases, public advertisements, promotional fliers and promotional emails.
  • Ongoing liaison with members of partner groups.
  • Carry out event management activities associated with the project.
  • Support the DiverseCity Community Partnership enagement team in their delivery, facilitation and recruitment roles.
  • Implement Social Impact Tracker tool.
  • Serve and report to the Project Sub-group.
  • Manage the administration associated with the project.
  • Prepare reports as required for the funder and Trustees of Holywell Trust/DiverseCity Community Partnership.
  • Operate within budget and keep full financial records of expenditure and expenses.   
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties, which may be allocated by Holywell Trust Director.

Essential Criteria

  • Third level education, degree or equivalent (or five years relevant work experience)
  • Previous delivery of successful civic activism projects/programmes with local community and key stakeholders.
  • A minimum of three years working in a project management role (within the community and voluntary sector)
  • Good management skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • Strong knowledge of social and political issues in Northern Ireland.
  • Experience of liaising with statutory, voluntary and private organisations as well as the general public.
  • Management experience.

Special Aptitudes

  • An interest and understanding of the idea behind the DiverseCity Community Partnership and Civic Activism.
  • High standard of verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • An awareness of community relations issues and a background of working with all communities.
  • Good organisational skills including an ability to prioritise workload.
  • The ability to work within strict deadlines.

Disposition

  • To work within the aims and objective of the DiverseCity Community Partnership.
  • The ability and willingness to work flexible and unsocial (evening & weekend) hours.
