An overview of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), a new disability benefit which would replace Disability Living Allowance for all working age (16 – 65) claims under the Welfare Reform Act.
The Welfare Reform Act was passed in England and Wales in March 2012. While it has not yet become law in Northern Ireland, when it does it will introduce significant reforms to the Social Security Benefit System.
This one day course is for those who provide advice as part of their role. Trainees will:
- Identify the eligibility conditions for Personal Independence Payment
- List the component parts of a Personal Independence Payment assessment
- Complete Personal Independence Payment Case Studies
- Explore the application process for new and migrating clients
- Explore the impact on existing benefit claimants
- Explore the Housing Benefit reform and its impact
- Explore the Benefit cap and its impact
- Explore the changes to CB ESA and ESA in youth and its impact
- Explore the changes to the Appeals process
- Explore the changes to fraud and error powers
- Explore the changes to the Discretionary Social Fund and Rate Rebate scheme
- Identify changes which have already come in as a result of Welfare Reform in Great Britain.
