Join us for a Teatime Event session at Holywell to hear about the work of The Families Voices Forum, a group of volunteers from across the region who have been bereaved by suicide within their family.

The Family members work with a variety of groups and individuals to gain feedback on what the experience is like for families who are supporting someone who is having suicidal thoughts, as well as their experience of support following a death by suicide. The Forum then gives this feedback in many of the strategic meetings it attends. These meetings can be led by the Public Health Authority, The Department of Health, The Police or MLAs at Stormont. The Forum works in partnership with all these agencies to ensure the feedback from families is heard and acted upon in order to improve services and policy across the region.

The Forum also participates in a variety of consultations, from the new leaflet for bereaved families; the development of the new Protect Life 2 Strategy and in reviews of processes such as the post-suicide investigation process. The Forum is keen to ensure that the voices and needs of rural communities outside of Belfast are clearly represented through their work. However, the Forum does struggle to find members from outside of Belfast and any small way you can contribute can make a big difference. The Forum can be supported by giving your opinion, by phone, email or in a meeting. The Forum meets about 4 times a year for a meal together, a catch up and often has a guest speaker to discuss meaningful issues.

Come along to the session to hear more about their work and how you can get involved or get in touch on Tel: 028 7161 1384 or Email: [email protected]
