New public art work - your input needed...

Folktown CIC

Folktown CIC

Cost: 0

We NEED your input! This is a great chance to take part in creating the next public art work for Belfast. Theme Creation Workshop 26th April, 10.30am-1.30pm. Lunch provided.

King Street Arts is delighted to invite you to participate in the creation of a new city centre public art work in Berry St (off Royal Avenue). It is part of a larger regeneration scheme, the DSD's Streets Ahead, in the area around Bank Sq and King St.

This is a chance to take part in a workshop, 26th April 2014, where we will create the themes from which the art work will be developed. Please see the details below. We would also like you to participate in the consultation following the creation of the themes. These will be presented to the Department of Social Development and a final concept approved by the Minister.

This is an exciting development for the area known locally as Folktown. It has an active community of businesses, arts and youth organisations as well as two churches and residents. However, we are keen to engage with the wider city to help create an inviting and shared space around Bank Sq and the connecting streets where the new public art work will be placed.

Its a great opportunity to get actively involved in the creation of our 'new' Belfast and to influence the conceptualisation of a public art work for all of the city to enjoy and for generations to come.

Please share this invitation with your community and contacts!

Workshop - Creating themes for the art work

We will be using the World Cafe model to scope out possible themes for the art work. The workshop will also include a short heritage tour of the area, among other things.

No artistic or community development experience is necessary. We very much welcome the participation and input from as broad a representation of our city's community as possible. If you are interested in participating please don't hesitate to get in touch!
