Castlereagh Borough Council’s Good Relations programme will mark the 68th anniversary of Holocaust Memorial Day with a public film screening evening on Wednesday 23rd January, 7:00pm at the Council Civic Offices.

The evening will commence at 7:00pm with a short talk from Dr Leon Litvack - who is a child of Holocaust survivors, and who currently chairs the Victims and Survivors Committee on the NI Community Relations Council, on this year’s theme of ‘Communities Together – Build a Bridge’. It will be followed by a film screening of ‘Defiance’, which is a 2008 World War II era film written, produced and directed by Edward Zwick, set during the occupation of Belarus by Nazi Germany. The film is an account of the Bielski partisans, a group led by three Jewish brothers who saved and recruited Jews in Poland (now Belarus) during the Second World War. The film stars Daniel Craig as Tuvia Bielski, Liev Schreiber as Zus Bielski, Jamie Bell as Asael Bielski and George MacKay as Aron Bielski.

Admission is free and a light supper will be provided.  To book your place, please contact the Council’s Good Relations Officer, Lynsey McCourt on (028) 9049 4522 or [email protected].
