Diabetes UK Northern Ireland has secured funding from the National Lottery Community Fund – Empowering Young People, to develop and deliver the ‘Our Lives, Our Voices’ project in partnership with young people and young adults living with Type 1 diabetes.

Diabetes UK Northern Ireland has secured funding from the National Lottery Community Fund – Empowering Young People to develop and deliver the ‘Our Lives, Our Voices in partnership with young people with Type 1 diabetes. The project will provide young people living with Type 1 diabetes with opportunities to develop and deliver youth-led solutions to current gaps in mental health and emotional wellbeing support, to access already existing and develop new peer support networks and to create better relationships with Health Care Professionals across Northern Ireland.

 The key deliverables for this Youth Worker will be: 

  • To support the Youth Coordinator on the development and delivery of the Our Lives, Our Voices: Empowering Young People Project.
  • To recruit, train and provide continuing support to young people, participants and Volunteer Youth Leaders.
  • To increase the confidence and capacity of the Volunteer Youth Leaders to develop their skills in communication, co-production and co-facilitation, project planning.
