Responsible for the development and delivery of our town centre outreach/detached programme, the management of staff and volunteers, and the implementation of YMCA North Down’s organisational policies.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify, prioritise and deliver youth outreach activities in response to the needs of young people in central Bangor, including the development of Bangor Youth Hub.
- Provide leadership and support for a team of part-time workers and volunteers.
- Ensuring that young people play an active role in the youth outreach programme and work towards a model of youth participation.
- Develop positive relationships with the wider community and external agencies.
- Enable young people to work effectively together, and to realise their goals.
- Challenge oppressive behaviour in young people, and provide them with relevant information and support.
- Encourage young people to broaden their horizons and be active citizens.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of youth work activities, supporting young people in the evaluation of the activities and the impact of youth work on their development.
- Support young people in their understanding of risk and challenge and in taking action to address key issues in their lives.
- Implement YMCA North Down’s safeguarding and health & safety policies, and work with young people to safeguard their welfare and the welfare of others.
- Assume responsibility for the administration of the project including financial and non-financial monitoring, effective record keeping, and ensuring that the administrative requirements of North Down YMCA are met.
- Assist with the recruitment, selection and induction of paid staff and volunteers.
- Carry out such duties as may be assigned by the General Secretary/CEO or the Youth Support Worker in Charge - Centre-Based, within the level of the post.
START DATE: For immediate start
CONTRACT: Fixed term until 31st March 2021 - subject to funding, may be extended
SALARY: £23,156 (pro-rata) - YMCA range G pt 3
HOURLY RATE: £11.99 per hour
LOCATION: Based at YMCA North Down (10-12 High Street, Bangor), but working across central Bangor
RESPONSIBLE TO: General Secretary/CEO
HOURS: 25 hours per week - including face-to-face sessions four afternoons (3-6pm) and three evenings (6-9pm) per week
