Responsible for the development and delivery of our town centre outreach/detached programme, the management of staff and volunteers, and the implementation of YMCA North Down’s organisational policies.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Identify, prioritise and deliver youth outreach activities in response to the needs of young people in central Bangor, including the development of Bangor Youth Hub.
  2. Provide leadership and support for a team of part-time workers and volunteers.
  3. Ensuring that young people play an active role in the youth outreach programme and work towards a model of youth participation.
  4. Develop positive relationships with the wider community and external agencies.
  5. Enable young people to work effectively together, and to realise their goals.
  6. Challenge oppressive behaviour in young people, and provide them with relevant information and support.
  7. Encourage young people to broaden their horizons and be active citizens.
  8. Monitor and evaluate the quality of youth work activities, supporting young people in the evaluation of the activities and the impact of youth work on their development. 
  9. Support young people in their understanding of risk and challenge and in taking action to address key issues in their lives.
  10. Implement YMCA North Down’s safeguarding and health & safety policies, and work with young people to safeguard their welfare and the welfare of others.
  11. Assume responsibility for the administration of the project including financial and non-financial monitoring, effective record keeping, and ensuring that the administrative requirements of North Down YMCA are met.
  12. Assist with the recruitment, selection and induction of paid staff and volunteers.
  13. Carry out such duties as may be assigned by the General Secretary/CEO or the Youth Support Worker in Charge - Centre-Based, within the level of the post.

START DATE: For immediate start

CONTRACT: Fixed term until 31st March 2021 - subject to funding, may be extended

SALARY: £23,156 (pro-rata) - YMCA range G pt 3

HOURLY RATE: £11.99 per hour

LOCATION: Based at YMCA North Down (10-12 High Street, Bangor), but working across central Bangor

RESPONSIBLE TO: General Secretary/CEO

HOURS: 25 hours per week  including face-to-face sessions four afternoons (3-6pm) and three evenings (6-9pm) per week
