There are 1,600 deaf children in NI between ages of 0- 18, deafness is a barrier to adequate support. Deaf Children often struggle to find support and a lack of awareness means many deaf are isolated, falling behind thier hearing peers, academically & socially resulting in lower self esteem and poorer well being.
Many deaf children are excluded from the usual mainstream youth provsion through a lack of awareness. Action Deaf Youth works directly with children & young people who are have a range of hearing loss. We are looking to expand our youth provision to provide interpersonal skills in rural areas across Northern Ireland. We will work with local youth provsion to ensure that deaf children and young people have better access to support.
If successful application , Interviews will be held at Action Deaf Youth on 9th & 10th May.
