Young Person's Practitioner
Action for Children, Northern Ireland
1 in 10 children in every classroom suffer from a diagnosable mental health disorder. The Blues is an evidenced based CBT influenced programme to support the reduction of depression in young people using an early intervention model.
Through our successful partnership with Royal Mail we are able to deliver the Blues programme to 15-18yr old young people in schools, colleges and sixth forms across Londonderry for the next two years.
The Blues programme is a vital part of our work. We are looking for a motivated Young Persons Practitioner who is committed to supporting young people's mental health to deliver this service in Derry in Northern Ireland. You will be part of a national programme across Action for Children's four nations.
These posts are available as a twenty-two month contract or secondment (with agreement of your present line manager).
How you'll make a difference:
By delivering group work to around 500 young people as year as a team
By giving young people skills in order to manage their own emotional wellbeing
By working in partnership with schools and colleges
What you'll need:
NVQ3 or equivalent in youth work, working with families, childcare or other relevant field
Experience of delivering evidenced based programmes with fidelity
Experience of working with young people aged 15-18
A commitment to supporting young people's mental health
