Responsible to: AFTER SCHOOL CO-ORDINATOR Hours: 22.5 Hours Salary: £11.00 per hour Time: 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday

Background:           Newhill Afterschool Centre is a leading facility in the Upper Springfield area of West Belfast, caring for 64 children aged 5 – 12 years Monday to Friday from 2.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.

Main Responsibilities:

 

Job Purpose

 

The role of the Room Leader of the After School Club is to work as part of the management team to lead the day to day organisation of the After School Club by providing high standards of care, play and educational support opportunities for children between the ages of 5 – 12 years old in a safe and secure environment.

  • High standards of care, play and educational opportunities.
  • To work with Social Services and statutory bodies.
  • To ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Positive working relationships with staff members, outside professional, parents and carers.
  • Happy, supported and engaged children.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • To welcome all children, parents and carers in a positive manner each day.
  • Create a safe, welcoming and friendly environment delivering high quality creative play and learning opportunities embracing each child’s individual needs, unique qualities and personalities.
  • Ensure appropriate planning is in place to maintain the required standards, ensuring that the relevant equipment and resources are available, consulting with the Co-ordinator when necessary.
  • To contribute to the development of programmes and activities for children specific to their age and stage of development.
  • Supervise the children and staff throughout the session ensuring that ratios are adhered to at all times.
  • To ensure the After School Club offers a high quality, inclusive environment which meets the needs of all children, regardless of social, culture, religion or beliefs.
