Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Residents
- The Workshop Leader will assist to ensure that all work within the workshop is person centered and upholds the principles of respect, privacy, dignity, fulfillment, independence and choice.
- The Workshop Leader will deliver individual programs of support, for example, social and domestic help, personal hygiene and community living skills designed to enhance and maximise the capabilities and independence of the residents.
- The Workshop Leader will follow the resident’s individual care and support plan and report any changes in, or concerns about the resident to their line manager
- The Workshop Leader will participate in monitoring and reviewing individual resident’s skills and needs
- As part of the team, the Workshop Leader will establish goals with residents on an individual basis to ensure the effective utilization of the individual’s abilities.
- The Workshop Leader will participate in supporting the strengths and needs of the residents.
- When applicable, the Workshop Leader will ensure that medication is held, stored and administered in accordance with Camphill Community Glencraig’s medication policy.
- The Workshop Leader will ensure resident’s opinions, suggestions, feelings and wishes are listened to and their personal affairs dealt with in a sensitive manner.
- Workshop Activities – the following should be viewed as suggestions rather than a definitive list of activities the adult Workshop Leader may be involved with.
- To assist and work alongside the staff and service users whose daily activities include an involvement with the land e.g. horticultural therapy, environmental agriculture and gardens
- To work with stake holders to ensure the horticulture garden can provide a suitable educational and day care training opportunity for all service users
- To work alongside existing projects based in the community to ensure a holistic approach to the gardens’ future development
- General gardening duties
- Soil cultivation, digging, forking, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, bed preparation and planting, food processing and harvesting
- Lawn maintenance and cultivation when required
- Use and maintenance of hand tools and basic light machinery
- Use and maintenance and ensuring service of rotary mowers, strimmers and leaf blowers
- To ensure all equipment, machinery and building are secured and kept clean and tidy
- Administration
- The Workshop Leader will report any changes in, or concerns about, individual residents and all significant events to the workgroup and the line manager.
- The Workshop Leader will be aware of and act in accordance with all Camphill Community Glencraig’s policies and procedures including Camphill Community Glencraig’s Health and Safety Policy
- The Workshop Leader will maintain NISCC registration and enact the basic minimum standard of competencies ensuring that work is carried out in line with best practice
- The Workshop Leader will follow emergency protocols put into place to maintain the residents’ safety and that of colleagues and other professionals
- The Workshop Leader will have an awareness of all Camphill Community Glencraig’s policies and procedures and work within these
- The Workshop leader will maintain and ensure that daily/monthly records of service provision are maintained within resident’s files
- The Workshop Leader will have an awareness of all Camphill Community Glencraig’s Policies and Procedures and will deliver services in compliance with RQIA’s minimum care standards
- The Workshop Leader will report all incidents / accidents and significant events.
- Accommodation / Health and Safety
- The Workshop Leader will be aware of and act in accordance with Camphill Community Glencraig’s Health and Safety Policy and conduct all activities in a manner which is safe to themselves and others
- The Workshop Leader will report the need for repairs or maintenance in the workshop to the line manager
- The Workshop Leader will participate in cleaning and housekeeping as required to ensure agreed standards are maintained
- Learning and Development
- The Workshop Leader will participate in regular workgroup meetings and attend supervision and annual appraisal reviews with the line manager
- The Workshop Leader will undertake all mandatory and developmental training as identified by the line manager and that required of them to maintain NISCC minimum standards of practice
- The Workshop Leader will reflect on Practice and learn from it contributing to own personal development
- General
- The Workshop Leader will deal with minor First Aid as required
- The Workshop Leader will be required to carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the line manager
- Financial
- The Adult Workshop Leader will ensure the organisations resources are used in a cost effective manner
- Will identify areas of cost saving within own remit of work where applicable.
Person Specification:
