Jim who live alone in the Newtownabbey area and would like a volunteer to visit him for a sing song and listen to some music great. Jim also enjoys books and reading and would like to maybe pop out with a volunteer, visit somewhere for a cuppa and chat.

Role Description

 

Jim loves Music and would like to share his interest with you

Jim is a happy and easy going 80 year old gentleman, who has a real passion for music in particular the old time songs from the 1940's and 1950's era. He would like nothing more than a good sing song with a volunteer who could share his passion. 

Jim lives alone and would like a volunteer for 2 to 3 hours a week, the most convenient times are Tuesday afternoons or Saturday/ Sundays evenings. Other than sitting in listening to music Jim also enjoys books and reading and would like to maybe pop out with a volunteer, visit somewhere for a cuppa and have a really good chat. Jim is slow walker and would need guiding assistance.

Qualities and Skills we are looking for:

  • We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Volunteers
  • Good communication skills, particularly with regard to conversational skills
  • To be reliable and have a genuine interest to make a difference in  lives of deafblind people
  • Patience and a warm and friendly attitude

What will we ask for in return?

A regular commitment of one weekly visit – usually 1-3 hours
We will need to undertake two references and a DBS check before this role can start
You will need to be over the age of 18 years to apply for this role
