Board Membership

Trustee

Senior Appointments
unremunerated
We have an exciting opportunity to invite three new Trustees to join a high performing Board of Trustees at Northern Ireland Hospice, one of the most important leading charities in Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland Hospice aims to deliver the highest quality palliative and end of life care for infants, children and adults living with life limiting and life threatening conditions.  We care for local people and their families in their own homes and in our purpose built dementia-friendly Adult Hospice at Somerton Road, and at the Children’s Hospice at Newtownabbey.  In support of the charity objectives, we have 27 retail outlets, a social enterprise café, and we deliver education and research at a local and international level.

We are seeking to appoint Trustees with current professional and/or senior management background in the following areas:-

FINANCE

An individual who can demonstrate well-rounded experience of financial management in a complex organisation, most likely in a leadership position. The ideal candidate would be a qualified accountant or have qualifications in business, economics or finance.

NURSING LEADERSHIP

An individual who can demonstrate in-depth knowledge of high quality nursing standards for both in patient and community care, including infection prevention and management, training and development, legislative and regulatory requirements and service development. The ideal candidate is most likely to have a track record as a senior nurse leader and would have current NMC registration; however the latter is not essential.

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

An individual who can demonstrate in-depth knowledge of building maintenance, facilities and contract management preferably in Healthcare. Candidates should have well-rounded experience of facilities management in a complex organisation, most likely in a leadership position.

Ideally all candidates will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the healthcare sector but we also welcome candidates from other sectors. Board experience is desirable but is not an essential requirement.  Trustees should have an empathy with the aims and ethos of Hospice, and a desire to contribute to the continued development of a highly respected local charity serving communities across the province.
