We have an exciting volunteering opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to take a lead role in supporting people who are participating in range of courses that are taught to people of all abilities.

About this role

 This is an interactive, fun and rewarding role with an opportunity to meet new people, be part of a dedicated team and gain valuable experience in the process.

Days:                                     Mon – Fri (flexible days/times depending on classes)

Start Date:                          Ongoing

Location:                             Various locations across Belfast

Expenses:                           We will reimburse reasonable out of pocket expenses (travel costs and £3.50 for lunch if volunteer over 4 hours at once) on receipt of proof of purchase

Training:                              No specific qualifications needed as all training provided

Support:                              Regular support and supervision offered

 

Main responsibilities

 

  • Support skills trainer to deliver the material to meet the needs of the client
  • Support clients one to one or in a group – encouraging participation and discussion
  • Adhere to NOW’s Health and Safety, Confidentiality and Vulnerable adults policies and procedures
  • Assist clients with scribing, reading, spelling and note taking
  • Record details of any incidents in de-brief form as required
  • Consistent focus on client’s growth and progress towards their employment

  • Strong literacy skills
  • Good communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think on your feet and adapt to the environment you’re in
  • Friendly, approachable and warm
  • Patient and supportive
  • Responsible, positive, enthusiastic attitude
