Support Officer - “Engaging Rural Communities”

The successful candidate will engage up to 20 rural communities across Mid-Ulster providing direct facilitation and support to Building Positive Relations and engaging communities in Peace and Reconciliation cross community activities.

Essential skills will include:

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification plus a minimum of 3 years’ full-time experience in field of either community development, health, rural development or related project delivery

  • The post holder will be expected to participate in activities and meetings outside normal office hours of min 2 to 3 evenings per week and other times as required to meet the needs of the project

  • Experience and understanding of community development approaches, principles and facilitation approaches.

  • Experience and understanding of determinants and issues of both single identity and cross identity communities.

  • Experience and understanding of policies and strategies which affect identity and specifically rural and cross community work

  • Understanding of grant making processes

  • Competency in IT skills with experience of using computer software packages & systems to include Excel, publisher, Word, Web/internet, Power point.

  • Organisational skills

Based in The Crieve Centre, Stewartstown with outreach right across Mid Ulster.

The post holder will be expected to participate in activities and meetings outside normal office hours equivalent to min of 3 evenings per week and other times as required to meet the needs of the project.
