Support Assistants (Days & Nights) The Mews (20-167-SA-TM-WEB)
The Cedar Foundation deliver a range of services centred around the individual needs of each person and enabling people with disabilities to get the most out of life and to be fully included in their communities.
The Mews is a supported living service that provides 24-hour care and support in West Belfast, housing individuals with learning disabilities, mental health requirements and/or challenging behaviour.
We are looking for confident, calm and compassionate people who can provide meaningful support in times of crisis and within a challenging environment.
The Support Assistant is part of the team whose responsibility is to meet the practical, physical and emotional needs of individuals in receipt of services within the Cedar Foundation Supported Living Schemes.
The role requires participation in the delivery of person-centred care and promotion of a team approach at all times with positive and constructive working relationships for the benefit of the service user.
The Support Assistant will be guided by the management team to assist individuals to take part in social activities, education and training to support them to become more independent.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Location: The Mews, 143 Glen Road, Belfast, BT11 8FU
Salary: Days: £11.29 per hour
Nights: £12.45 per hour
Essential:
- Numeracy & literacy (English language) skills to help maintain records, such as service user monies, support documentation
- Demonstrable evidence of 1 years care/support experience, 6 months of which must be working with behaviours that challenge
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Committed to ensuring the provision of quality person centred services
- Knowledge of learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder and complex needs
- Ability to prepare and cook basic meals
- Awareness of importance of promoting social inclusion for service users
- Understand the relevance of empowering people and promoting independence
- Available to work days, evenings and weekends on a rota basis
