Specialist Practitioners

Wave Trauma Centre

We are extending our team and therefore seek to recruit Specialist Practitioners to participate in team teaching for a number of modules on the BSc Hons in Psychological Trauma delivered in partnership with Queen’s University, Belfast.

WAVE, established in 1991, is a leading voluntary organisation which has offered care and support to anyone bereaved, traumatised or injured as a result of the Troubles/Conflict for nearly three decades.  

The organisation also specialises in delivering accredited trauma education programmes. These programmes have been refined and developed over 20 years and offer students a range of options to meet their learning needs. Trauma Education includes:-

·         Short Trauma Courses accredited by the School of Education at Queen’s University, Belfast under their Open Learning Programme.

·         A BSc. (Hons) in Psychological Trauma Studies is delivered in partnership with the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Queen’s University. It remains the only undergraduate trauma programme available in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

·         A Postgraduate Pathway in Trauma Studies is delivered in partnership with University College Cork.

·         Professional Development in trauma awareness and trauma informed practice for social work, midwifery and nursing students is delivered in partnership with the Schools of Social Work and Nursing and Midwifery at Queen’s University and Ulster University.  

Modules include: - Intergenerational Trauma; Treatment Modalities; Theoretical Perspectives on Trauma & Loss; Trauma & Addiction; International Response to Trauma; Social and Political Aspects to Victimhood.

This is a four-year programme which will commence in September 2019.  

Practitioners shall be paid at the hourly rate of £30.00.

WAVE’s Trauma Education pathway is financially supported by the EU Peace IV Programme managed by the Special European Union’s Programmes Board (SEUPB) and administered by the Victims and Survivors Service for Northern Ireland (VSS).
