URGENT APPEAL FOR SMALL ANIMAL VOLUNTEERS ???

Are you passionate about animal welfare? Could you commit to even a few hours every month to help with the care of our small animals?

We have an ever growing number of cats, dogs and chickens that desperately need your help and attention. With a full-time job, I myself can only commit to 7-8 hours every other Saturday, but even this amount of time can make such a difference in helping the very small number of Sanctuary staff to give much-needed care to our residents.

Its a very hard working day at the sanctuary, from doing the basics of cleaning cat litter trays, dog kennels and chicken sheds to ensuring everyone has clean, comfy bedding, replenishing food and water bowls - as well as fitting in vital quality time with our residents, all craving your attention, grooming and walks.

Days and evenings are non-stop at Crosskennan - and you will sleep well that night - but being a volunteer is extremely rewarding, knowing you can make a huge difference in even a small amount of time. How rewarding to see our cats rushing towards you and crowding around, not just for their Whiskas, but to enjoy your company and purring for affection, our dogs yelping in delight when you come to walk them or play in the fields, and our chickens clucking and following you around, eager and inquisitive to all you are doing.

I can vouch for the comment about the cats - they absolutely adore anyone who gives them attention! They love scratches and cuddles and in return will make you smile with all their kind and sometimes silly antics, and some of them even give kisses  - Marianne Volunteer
