Can you use your admin skills to help us offer a high-quality service delivery to refugees and people seeking asylum in the Belfast area?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Support Assistant to join the dynamic Refugee Services team at our Belfast base.
As a Senior Support Assistant, you will be responsible for providing an administrative support function to the Northern Ireland Refugee Resettlement team, who support refugees relocating in NI in addition to other support roles for Refugee Support services. What you’ll be doing will be dependent on the needs of the clients we’re supporting, so each day will be a little different. Key duties will include supporting our caseworkers, service managers and project coordinators with admin related tasks, such as managing records and data management, helping with purchasing and reporting, supporting the volunteers who work with us, and making sure the tools we use are up to date and fit for purpose. You’ll also be one of the first points of contact for clients getting in touch with us for help and will signpost and refer these service users as appropriate.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this is a key role that will directly support resettlement in NI, and allow our staff to deliver casework and projects safely and smoothly, and focus on responding to people in crisis.
Working hours are 35 hours per week with some evening and weekend work supporting arrivals of resettled refugees as project requires.
Behind every great cause there's a great team making everything possible
The Northern Ireland Refugee Support service provides practical and emotional support to vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers in the region, most of whom are experiencing destitution. The team works together to deliver advice, advocacy, orientation and casework to vulnerable clients on issues including asylum support, access to immigration legal advice, health and wellbeing services, this is in addition to providing short term emergency provisions.
You’ll work closely alongside our team of casework coordinators, project coordinators, and our fantastic Refugee Services volunteers to enable us to provide the best possible service.
The role might be for you if …
You care about our cause - you have an understanding and empathy with the needs of refugees and asylum-seekers.
You're comfortable managing and prioritising a busy and varied workload, and have experience providing administrative support too
You're a team player; you're able to work as part of a team within what can sometimes be a high-pressure environment.
You’re diligent in record keeping and ensure a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with data.
You're a great communicator, and can communicate effectively with people whose first language isn’t English, using interpreters where necessary. You will also be IT literate and confident using Microsoft Office packages.
Please note that a driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential, as there may be the occasional need to drive.
Closing date for applications is 23:59 on Thursday 17th December 2020 with Zoom interviews to follow on Tuesday 22nd December 2020.
We offer a wide range of staff benefits, these include:
- 36 days holiday (including Bank Holidays) - pro rata for part time staff
- Option to buy an extra 5 days annual leave
- Up to 6% contributory pension
- Flexible working policy
