Location: Belfast Contract type: 8 months Fixed Term Contract until January 2021 with the possibility of extension to 31 March 2021. Hours: 35 hours per week Salary: GBP 17,565 per annum

Could you play a crucial role within our dynamic Refugee Services team in Belfast? 

 

You will work alongside the large staff and volunteer team based in Belfast. In this role, you will ensure the provision of high-quality, person-centred, advice and advocacy support for people in a range of complex and crisis related situations.

 

Reporting to the Refugee Support Service Manager, you will work on The Executive Office Crisis Fund project 2020-2021 providing administration and finance support for the administration of the project across Northern Ireland.  Please note the successful candidate will be required to be based in the Belfast office.

The Northern Ireland Refugee Support service provides practical and emotional support to vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers in the region, most of whom are experiencing destitution. The team works together to deliver advice, advocacy, orientation and casework to vulnerable clients on issues including asylum support, access to immigration legal advice, health and wellbeing services, this is in addition to providing short term emergency provisions.
 

The role might be for you if

  • You have an understanding and empathy with the needs of refugees and asylum-seekers   
  • You're an effective communicator, both written and spoken, you will have good interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy.
  • You're organised; you'll be able to carry out multiple tasks, work under pressure, use your own initiative, work independently and be able to take responsibility for specific tasks.
  • You will have great time management skills and be used to working to fixed deadlines
