Resilience Coach/Mentor for NEET Young People in GEMS NI CO-MENT Project
GEMS NI Ltd
Promoting and building resilience in young people is a key component of our collaborative mentoring model and key to improving mental wellbeing. Resilience is the distinct ability to recover from difficult events rather than an invulnerability to stress. Resilience helps young people gain skills for life that help them deal with and manage challenging situations and circumstances. This includes managing unexpected change, going through transitions, dealing with daily hassles or a range of stressors. Resilience also helps young people to cope with unexpected traumatic events. The ability to deal with uncertainty, change and ambiguity are key skills for learning and work. Learning skills for resilience can make a real change to a young person’s outcomes and success in life.
GEMS NI has successfully applied for funding for this new and important post. Our Resilience Coach/Mentor will work with NEET Young People aged 15-18 helping them to build resilience and mental wellbeing. You will have a relevant qualification at Level 3 in coaching, mentoring, careers guidance or a related field. You will also have at least 2 years experience of working with young people who may be facing barriers to remaining in statutory education/sustainable learning, training or employment in formal or informal settings and an understanding of the barriers they may face. We are a small organisation with big results and want to hear from you if you are interested in joining us.
