Cara-Friend has a dedicated team of seven staff working in our Belfast office to support our regional service delivery. The Board of Trustees oversees the strategic direction and governance of the organisation. We maintain an ethos of collective team spirit across the organisation’s Board, Staff and Volunteers, and applications are open to all regardless of sexual orientation.
We are particularly interested in hearing from those with skills in the followings areas:
- Financial Management
- Professional Fundraising
- Media & Publicity
- Community & Organisational Development
- Volunteer Management
- Youth Work
and from those from specific sections of the LGBTQ+ community:
- LGBTQ+ Young People aged 16 to 25
- Lesbian & Bisexual Women
- Members of the Trans Community
- Members of the Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic Communities
(Opportunities are not limited to the above skills & backgrounds.)
If you are interested in the rights and welfare of the LGBTQ+ community in N. Ireland and would consider joining the Cara-Friend Board, this could be a rewarding voluntary role for you. Previous experience in governance would be useful, but for others this would be an ideal opportunity to acquire new skills. New Board members will receive a full induction together with opportunities to train in governance and related areas.
Cara-Friend Board meets every 8-12 weeks at Belfast LGBT Centre in Belfast City Centre. Board meetings are usually held on a weekday evening and rotate between evenings to accommodate most members. Although a voluntary role, travel expenses can be reimbursed.
If you would like to find out more, without making any commitment, please contact us to discuss or to arrange an informal visit to the office.
Please contact us by 4pm on Monday 16th March 2020 if you are interested.
