Action Mental Health
The overall purpose of the post is to provide a range of mental health and wellbeing interventions to target groups and individuals, specifically:
- To develop and deliver accredited and non-accredited personal development and wellbeing programmes for people in custody.
- Support and information to children and young people (8-25 years), and their key contacts regarding mental health promotion and suicide and self-harm prevention with the aim of developing their awareness, knowledge and understanding and to provide resources, signposting people to effective sources of support when appropriate.
The role will involve working with people in custody including young people, in conjunction with the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust and the Northern Ireland Prison Service, and a wide variety of organisations across the South Eastern and greater Belfast areas.
Essential criteria includes:-
GCSE Maths and English grades (A*-C) or equivalent
A Level/ QCF Level 3 or equivalent in a related discipline (health, education/training or social care sector)
Paid or voluntary experience of working with people with mental health needs, young people or disadvantaged groups.
Experience in developing and extending relevant networking opportunities
Experience of delivering training in a group setting.
Experience of providing training to a recognised accredited standard eg. NVQ, OCN, OCR etc, or willing to undertake OCN Trainer Training within 3 months.
Current full driving licence, valid in the UK and access to a car on appointment or access to a form of transport which will permit them to carry out the duties and requirements of the post in full.
