Mid & East Antrim Agewell Partnership (MEAAP) based in Ballymena / Carrickfergus are seeking to recruit a IMPACT Agewell Project Officer on a Fixed Term Contract (until 31st March 2020) to join their busy, growing team.
  • Location: Covering Carrickfergus Patch (Based either in Carrickfergus or Ballymena subject to successful candidate).
  • Hours of Work: 35 hours per week over 5 days Monday to Friday (9.00am - 5.00pm)
  • Salary: £21,074 per annum
  • Holidays: 25 days per year (pro rata) plus public holidays

Key Responsibilities:

To work within a hub team including General Practitioners, Community Pharmacy and Northern Health & Social Care Trust Staff to provide empathetic and sensitive emotional support to older people with long term health conditions via a personalised health and wellbeing action plan.

When appropriate you will be required to connect them to internal and external services thereby supporting independence and improving quality of life.

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience of working within a client centred context
  • Significant experience of working in a similar environment 
  • Able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and assessment skills.
  • Ability to work sensitively in difficult circumstances with empathy, compassion and understanding.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach. 
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout Northern Ireland.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience within a charity
  • Experience of assessing and identifying the health & wellbeing needs of older people.

Qualifications: 

A recognised 3rd level qualification in health promotion, allied health profession, community development work, with 1 years’ experience of working in the field of community development supporting older people, intergenerational works or good relation related programmes.

OR

3 years full time experience of working in the field of health and/or community development

Candidates seeking a secondment will also be considered.

A waiting list of successful candidates will be compiled for similar full and part time vacancies that arise over the next 12 months.

This post is secure until 31 March 2020 and any extension would be subject to additional funding being secured.
