Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB NI)

£30,416

Our vision is to make Northern Ireland a better place for blind and partially sighted people to live and a place where no one needlessly loses their sight. You can help us achieve this.

Need to Talk is a five-year (2017 - 2021) cross border counselling and confidence building project, delivered through a partnership between RNIB in Northern Ireland and Scotland, and Fighting Blindness in the Republic of Ireland. The €1.8million project is funded by the European Union's INTERREG VA Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

Our Need to Talk team support adults and young people over the age of eleven who are blind or partially sighted, and anyone who supports a person with sight loss, to access the emotional and practical support they need to adapt to life with sight loss.

We are looking for a professionally qualified senior counsellor with management experience to join our project team. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of Need to Talk across Northern Ireland, Border counties of Republic of Ireland and Western Scotland.  You will provide dedicated project and clinical management and leadership to the project team ensuring all service levels set are achieved within the budget and funding parameters across the three partner nations.

In exchange we offer a competitive salary, a stimulating and supportive working environment and a benefits package including:

  • 26 days holiday per year (plus bank holidays), which increase with service.
  • Excellent pension schemes

We’re the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and we’re here for everyone affected by sight loss. Working for us means working for one of the UK’s biggest charities, supporting almost two million people living with sight loss in the UK.

RNIB is committed to being led by our customers (blind and partially sighted people), and one of the ways we do this is through active involvement and engagement in many of our work activities, including the recruitment of new members of staff.

Please be aware that blind and partially sighted volunteers may be involved in the recruitment and selection process for this vacancy; including reviewing job applications and CV’s, shortlisting and interviews and selection tests.

RNIB is committed to being an Equal Opportunities organisation and we welcome applications from people with sight loss.
