Project Manager - (PRISM) Location: Belfast Contract type: Fixed Term Contract until December 2020 35 hours per week Salary: Circa GBP 27,000 per annum

The British Red Cross, as lead partner of the PRISM project, is now seeking an experienced Project Manager with a proven ability to inspire, energise and lead the project team and partners, taking forward this innovative project working with our partners the Irish Red Cross, Corrymeela & ArtsEkta.

About the role
The Project Manager is critical to the success the project. The post demands strong leadership capability, a rigorous approach to project design, implementation and evaluation, and a commitment to partnership working. The post holder will have a track record in project management, excellent interpersonal and networking skills.

About the team
PRISM (Promoting Reconciliation and Integration through Safe Mediation) is a project bringing together the British Red Cross, ArtsEkta, The Corrymeela Community and the Irish Red Cross, supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross in a historic partnership. The project is funded by the EU Peace IV Programme and has pan Ireland aspirations to understand the factors which aid and sustain attitudinal change in a divided society and to test approaches to community integration.

The specific results the project is seeking are:

  • to reduce negative perceptions of Catholic and Protestant cultures and increase knowledge of ethnic minority communities
  • to develop sustainable pathways for refugees, asylum seekers, vulnerable migrants (RASVM), Catholics and Protestants to integrate within their local communities
  • to evolve new contact approaches to meet the needs of the changed demographics within N.I and the shifting patterns of identity and culture brought about by increased migration


About the person

  • Knowledge of research methodologies
  • Functional knowledge of community relations and cultural diversity
  • Recognised project management qualification or equivalent by experience Able to work under pressure and time constraints
  • Experience of successfully managing significant projects
  • Experience of developing and managing programme progress and performance reporting, presenting information clearly and concisely
  • Managing diverse stakeholder relationships, helping negotiating solutions to complex problems
  • Experience of managing a project team and budget
  • Experience of building networks and partnerships and working collaboratively in a large organisation
  • Able to work out of usual office hours (weekends and/or evenings) as required
  • Driving licence required (extensive travel throughout Northern Ireland)
