NHS at 70 is a Lottery supported project that seeks to capture and archive the stories and experience of patients and health professionals in Northern Ireland over the last seventy years.

Volunteers are at the core of the project working with us to create a shared history of the NHS.

Our volunteers bring a wide variety of life-skills and experiences that enlarge our core project team and enrich the range and depth of stories we are collecting. Volunteers gain professional oral history skills and act as the interface of the project meeting the interviewees to record their NHS stories. Our volunteers report a greater sense of wellbeing, belonging and feeling valued through these connections.

Are you a good listener? Are you interested in people? As a volunteer, you will record stories from people treated by or employed in any part of the NHS over the last 70 plus years. The online Digital Archive of these stories will be available to everyone.

As a volunteer you will:

  • Gain free professional ‘oral history’ training in late Nov/Early Dec
  • Receive local support and guidance
  • Become a valued member of our wider team of volunteers

Help us create a shared history of the NHS. Get in touch now for more information.
