Sólás is a company limited by guarantee and a charity specialising in the delivery of practical support services for children and young people with additional needs and their families.
Currently the organisation has a total of 8 trustees which comprises a chairperson, secretary, treasurer and 5 directors. We are looking to further expand our board to future proof the organisation and bring in valuable experience and knowledge that would help the organisation deliver on its key objectives.
What we need from you ?
The requirements of trustees will be; to be available for 6 board meetings per year, as well as sign up to one board sub-group, with the likelihood of participating in a subgroup meeting between board meetings. Meetings, typically taking place at 4.15pm at our Ormeau Road site, and last for a period of no longer than 2 hours.
The board is currently looking expand its board membership to 12 directors, and recruit members with experience and expertise in one or more of the following; HR , Legal, Finance, Communications, and Safeguarding.
Essential Criteria
- Dedicated and passionate individual who has a desire to help the organisation set and achieve strategic goals and objectives
- Proven skills in matters relating to one of the specialisms identified above.

General Information
Sólás was established in 2009 to provide educational and social development support for children and young people with additional needs. We originally located in the Mornington Building, 117 Ormeau Road. We quickly out grew this building, and in 2012 we relocated to the CRI Building on the corner of Donegall Pass and the Ormeau Road. In 2017 we secured our current site Parkmore Building, 284a Ormeau Road, formerly, owned by the Belfast Metropolitan College. We have 3 core areas of business including; (1) Social development Programmes supporting children and young people with complex disabilities; (2) home support & respite programmes supporting families of children and young people with disabilities and (3) educational programmes, supporting children and young people with mild additional needs.
