.As a Mums Wellness Worker you will aim to support the maternal mental health needs of expectant mums and mums with a baby up to two years where presenting needs do not meet criteria for statutory mental health services.

The Mums Wellness Project supports the maternal mental health needs of expectant mums and mums with a baby up to two years and their families. The Mums Wellness Project is delivered as part of MindWise’ Child & Family Services which also includes the Family Wellness Project.

The role purpose:

As a Mums Wellness Worker you will aim to support the maternal mental health needs of expectant mums and mums with a baby up to two years where presenting needs do not meet criteria for statutory mental health services. The post holder will work with mums/expectant mums, 1-1 in their own home or community venue and in groups, to develop a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) and facilitate peer support groups in the local community.

 

Key objectives for the post:

The Child & Family Support Worker (Mums Wellness Project) will be responsible for:

 

  • Supporting expectant mums & mums (and their family, if requested) to develop a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP);
  • Signpost and support expectant mums & mums (and their families, if requested) to access other services available in their local community based on their individual needs;
  • Facilitate local peer support groups for those mums & expectant mums who have been referred to the Mums Wellness Project;
  • Developing, organising and delivering activities pertinent to the target group;
  • Assist the Child & Family Services Manager in recording, monitoring and analysing the outcomes achieved by the project

 

Experience and knowledge required:

  • Educated to GCSE level (grades A-C) to include Mathematics and English language (or equivalent)
  • Holds a Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care or equivalent
  • A minimum of one year’s experience of providing support to women, children or families with mental health challenges
  • A minimum of one year’s experience of facilitating peer support groups
