We are looking for a Media and Communications Manager with vast experience in media, press work and written communications.

Fixed Term Contract until February 2019

We are looking for a Media and Communications Manager with vast experience in media, press work and written communications to deliver high-profile and influential coverage giving visibility to issues relating to our work in Northern Ireland, the UK and internationally.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our UK and Global Programmes department delivers humanitarian and development programmes, builds partnerships with institutional donors – including governments, multi-laterals and trusts – and drives lasting change.

As our Media and Communications Manager you will engage supporters and raise the profile of Save the Children in Northern Ireland by working with the rest of Save the Children, including Global Programmes, Fundraising, Advocacy, and Media and Marketing Departments. In addition you will:

  • Create ideas, develop partnerships and deliver public relations activities that maximise positive media coverage for our campaigns and fundraising appeals; including through the use of social and other digital platforms
  • Identify, develop and maintain relationships with key media and internal and external stakeholders
  • Build and maintain targeted media relations ensuring a proactive schedule of media activity
  • Support fundraising for our UK work, and for Save the Children more broadly.

To be successful you will have considerable experience in a media and/or communications role with responsibility for leading an organisation’s media and communications strategy. The ability to initiate, develop and implement media activity covering complex issues is also essential as is the ability to produce effective communications collateral to create impact and build profile. In addition you will have:

  • A proven ability to manage multiple demands with minimal direction
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Northern Ireland media environment
  • Experience in using multi-media and social networking channels to build campaigns and appeals
  • Experience of developing and building a wide range of partnerships to create public profile and impact.
