RESPONSIBLE TO: Sure Start Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Sure Start Midwife
LOCATION: Based at Upper Springfield Development Co Ltd
JOB DESCRIPTION
The maternity support worker (infant feeding) will work in partnership with colleagues in the Sure Start area to meet the needs of local families and children. Specifically, the worker will support mothers-to-be, new mothers and their partners with infant feeding and promote positive infant mental health.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- To support and promote normality, breastfeeding, and responsive feeding through 1:1 and group work with women, their partners and their families.
- To work in a way which values parents, responds to their expressed needs and encourages participation and empowerment.
- To provide practical and emotional support to families involved in the Sure Start programme.
