The Kids Den Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the provision of a quality homework and numeracy/literacy support for children with additional needs in the UV area of South Belfast. Clubs 4 afternoons /week; 3 -5pm. Funding secured to 31/3/20

The Kids Den operates as an early intervention support initiative. It provides weekly one-to-one support to primary school-aged children with an additional educational need that is not being met through statutory provision.

The Coordinator will be responsible for the overall implementation, development and sustainability of the Kids Den, with a focus on ensuring adherence to very high-quality services and outcomes; compliance with all relevant statutory service standards; quality improvement; liaising with parents and families to keep them updated on the activities their child participated in and working with volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the smooth running of the Kids Den to meet the needs of the children, families, community and wider Sólás objectives.
  • Manage and supervise the volunteers to deliver activities in line with legal, statutory and organisational requirements, ensuring that the programme exceeds good practice recommendations.
  • Plan and deliver a range of activities for the effective running of the Kids Den, to include publicity and marketing for the programme, liaising with school SENCOs and principals, to ensure that the programme is financially viable and contributing effectively to the overall Sólás organisational objectives.
  • Ensure the venues are set up in good time, ensuring the space is clean and safe and any rooms used are effectively tidied up and left to a high standard at the end of sessions.
  • Networking and developing partnerships in the local community and statutory sector as well as with the local schools and universities.
  • Promote integration between the educational and social development programmes within Sólás by liaising and working alongside the Autism and Social Development Programmes and other Sólás staff, both for the advancement of the programme and to the wider organizational objective
  • Ensure the Den is run effectively in line with statutory guidelines to the highest standards, including preparation for annual inspections by the Education Authority.
