Information Volunteer

Versus Arthritis

Information volunteers help raise awareness of arthritis and Arthritis Care at events around the country.
The location of events range from local community centres, school, local councils and events such as county shows.

Key responsibilities:

  • talk to members of the general public in a friendly and enthusiastic manner to raise awareness of
  • offer appropriate publications/materials
  • answer general queries and direct any medical or other specific questions to the appropriate member of staff
  • encourage people with arthritis to leave their details so that we can forward them further information

 

Person Specification:

  • Confident at working with members of the public
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Enthusiastic and outgoing
  • An interest in community-based health promotion work
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • A commitment to support the work of Arthritis Care and represent Arthritis Care in a positive way
  • A willingness to attend all briefings and trainings related to your role.

We will provide:

  • Information and materials to help you carry out your role effectively
  • Recognition of the role that you are carrying out in support of Arthritis Care
  • Training, guidance and support
  • An opportunity to feed back about the events you attend
  • Reimbursement of agreed out of pocket expenses incurred while carrying out activities on behalf of Arthritis Care e.g. travel.

 

 

We hope you will:

  • Support Arthritis Care in its work and carry out your volunteer role to the best of your ability.
  • Complete relevant training.
  • Support Arthritis Care procedures and standards by:

*Being aware of your own health and safety and that of others

*Respecting others and treating people equally irrespective of age, disability, gender     reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race,

 religion and belief, sex and sexual orientation (Equality Act 2010)

 

Ensure all activities undertaken in the name of Arthritis Care achieve the charitable aims and objectives and do not bring the organisation into disrepute.

Meet time commitments and standards agreed, and give reasonable notice when unavailable, so other arrangements can be made.
