Halloween Event Volunteer - Cultra

National Museums NI

Help our visitors discover the origins, traditions and customs of the spookiest time of year, a celebration derived from the Celtic festival of Samhain, and experience a traditional Hallowe'en at the Folk Museum from Saturday 28th to Tuesday 31st October.

Hallowe'en is a time when the veil between the mortal world and the spirit world is at its thinnest, allowing spirits, fairies, and other supernatural entities to cross over and interact with the living…

As we welcome in the darkness of winter and say farewell to the lighter half of the year, you can support with demonstrations, get hands-on at our Hallowe'en craft stations and help with visitor orientation around the site.

Our Hallowe'en activities will be taking place on the following dates and time:

Saturday 28th October – 11:00 to 16:00
Sunday 29th October – 11:00 to 16:00
Monday 30th October – 10:00 to 16:00
Tuesday 31st October – 10:00 to 16:00

Roles include:
Food Sampling - Supporting our staff with food demonstrations and providing food samples to visitors. (Colcannon, Apple Pies or Bambrack)
Halloween Craft - Supporting with children's craft activities
Orientation - wayfinding in the Diamond Area
Lunch Cover - Helping with wayfinding until lunch cover is needed to cover all roles.

Additional Points of note:
-This is an active role and volunteers will be required to stand and move around the museum site for long periods.
- Please indicate if you have mobility issues and we will aim to make suitable adjustments to support your requirements
-The majority of the activity will be outdoors
