Action Ability Belfast aims to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities into the local community and support the development of their natural abilities.

Summary of Post

This post is part funded through Department for Communities DfC.  Its main aim is to develop and maintain services and programmes which enable people with disabilities to participate in community life. This includes reducing isolation and improving health and well being for all family members.  The post holder will identify new opportunities and engage with a wide range of stakeholders to identify people with disabilities who need services.

Main Responsibilities

1. To support social and leisure activities for groups of people with disabilities by enabling people to participate in a broad range of activities in community settings.
2. To setup and run a range of groups in line with the interests of individuals.
3. Providing opportunities which enable people to become active and valued members of their communities.
4. To provide support for carers through providing information, identifying activities for relaxation and respite.
5. Promote independence, support improvements in self-esteem and confidence, through enabling activities.
