SSYCC require an Employment Support Worker to work closely with the Project Manager and Community Youth Workers to support delivery of all aspects of the iRural Youth Project in Craigavon Rural, Loughshore and wider areas.

Title of Post:        Employment Support Worker

Responsible to:    Scotch Street Youth & Community Centre Management Committee through the Project Manager

 

Job Description:

  1. To contribute to the development of the iRural Project through the design, implementation and delivery of the work plan.  Geographical areas to be targeted will include Craigavon Rural, Loughshore and wider areas.
  2. To work with Partner Organisations and to ensure that the programme aims, objectives and outcomes are successfully met.
  3. To work closely with the Project Manager and wider team to support delivery of all aspects of the programme.  This will include: acting as an Employment Support Worker for participants identified as ready for/interested in exploring employment, helping them to prepare for, access and sustain work; engaging and working with employers; and helping to harness the contribution of volunteers in delivery of the programme.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  1. To implement the areas of work agreed by SSYCC and in keeping with the Project’s overall vision and operational plan.
  2. To work closely with the Project Manager and Community Youth Workers on the design, implementation and delivery of the group programme, to support members to progress towards, enter and sustain employment.
  3. To liaise and work in partnership with partner organisations, workers, volunteers and employers.
  4. To ensure regular feedback and reporting through the Project Manager to the Management Committee.
  5. To help engage and liaise with employers to identify suitable opportunities (work experience, jobs, placements, trials, internships, volunteering) for members including contacting employers and explaining to them the benefits of working with our participants, assessing potential job roles/work placements and joint planning.
  6. To assist in transporting young people to their placement or place of work if required, via SSYCC Mini Bus (may involve taking a D1 Driving Test, paid for by SSYCC).
  7. To ensure that the agreed milestones and delivery targets are met.
  8. To work within the ethos of the organisation, sympathetic to the core values that underpin their commitment to excellence in youth work and the promotion of equity, diversity and interdependence.
  9. To process paperwork relating to the project and to maintain sufficient records, reports and recordings on the group programme and to participate in regular reflection / supervision meetings with the Project Manager.
  10. To develop and maintain links with relevant organisations, groups and organisations e.g. Education and Training providers, Job Centre Plus/Department for Work and Pensions, Employment Support Agencies, to support the delivery of the iRural project.
  11. To work with the staff team and volunteers to identify and support members to enable them to progress towards work/supported employment including CV development, work skills, portfolios, training and qualifications.
  12. To carry out risk and need assessments of the workplace, identifying and helping to address any health and safety, safeguarding issues and support needs (including enabling suitable workplace adaptations/Access to Work funding).
  1. To monitor and review members in-work/work experience and volunteering placements providing advice and support to the employer and member to enable member progression and achievement.
  2. To promote and support volunteer involvement in the delivery of the iRural project e.g. recruit and train volunteers.
  3. To undertake any other duties commensurate and agreed by SSYCC.
