Action for Children does what's right, does what's needed and does what works for children across the UK. Every year, our team changes the lives of 370,000 children, young people and their families – but for every child who needs help to get help.

Our Waterside Surestart service provides a Surestart service for children aged 0-4 years and their parents. As an Early Years Worker you will engage in developmental programmes for mainly 2-3 years old and crèche (from baby) to facilitate the parenting programmes we run.

The role

As an Early Years Worker, you will coordinate the support we provide to children, young people and their families by providing interventions in accordance with organisational policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, helping to build happier lives.

The difference

You'll significantly improve young people's lives:

By being motivated, people-centric and working as part of our expanding team

By closely communicating with children, their parents and your colleagues, completing written records after each session

By undertaking personal care tasks, including administering medication and manual handling when appropriate

By supporting them with their behaviour – we'll provide training for these responsibilities.

By offering flexible support to meet families' needs.

The person

You'll need:

Experience of working with children, preferably those with disabilities

To work in partnership with parents, carers and children with disabilities

The ability to work both within a team and on your own initiative

Commitment to projects and families

A car with up-to-date business insurance

To be willing to undertake relevant training.

The rewards

Minimum 29 days' holiday (pro rata)

Flexible working, including maternity, paternity and adoption packages

Season ticket travel loans

Company pension scheme

Discounts at major high street retailers.

Plus, there's a lot more besides.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to vulnerable children's lives and to build a fulfilling and meaningful career with a leading UK children's charity.

Action for Children is committed to safer recruitment practices, designed to protect the welfare of the children and young people using our services.
