Driver - Active Inclusion Project 20hrs per week

To drive the delivery van and mini bus for benefit of the Active Inclusion Project and its participants and carry out light cleaning duties.
  1. Collect donated bulky items from the public.

 

  1. Deliver bulky items to customers.

 

  1. Deliver discarded items to amenity site.

 

  1. Direct and assist in loading and unloading the van. Ensure all stock is handled in an appropriate and safe manner.

 

  1. As required, assist in loading and unloading customer’s or donor’s vehicles.

 

  1. Collecting Project participants, driving to and from 4R’s, their work placements and any other destinations associated with the Project.

 

  1. Protect the safety of all passengers by ensuring seat belts are worn, loads are properly secured and by driving in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Highway Code.

 

  1. Provide daily walk around checks and basic maintenance for the vehicle e.g. oil levels, cleaning of vehicles, etc and assist on a rota basis with delivering the vehicle to the garage, when necessary for service, repairs and MOT of the vehicle to maintain basic working order and prevent unnecessary deterioration of the vehicle.

 

  1. Carry out light cleaning duties around the building such as vacuuming, emptying bins, dusting, cleaning bathrooms or any other light cleaning duties deemed appropriate by the Project Manager.

 

  1. Attend training courses as required and assist in the training of other staff as directed.

 

  1. Complete records as required.

 

  1. Agree daily workload with the Site Manager.

 

  1. Comply with Health & safety, Fire Regulations and other company policies.

Person Specification

 

  1. Education, Qualifications & Training

Essential Criteria

  • 4 GCSE’s, grade C or above, including English and Math or equivalent and 2 years’ experience in a similar role within the past 4 years.
  • or 5 years practical experience within the community and voluntary sector, working with people with disabilities.

Desirable Criteria

  • Specific training associated with people with disabilities and additional needs e.g. Autism awareness training etc.
  • Safeguarding training.
  • Mental Health First Aid training.
  • General first aid training.
  • Learning disability awareness training.

 

  1. Experience

Essential Criteria

    • Full clean driving license.
    • Experience of working with people with disabilities.
    • Experience in light caretaking and cleaning duties.

 

  Desirable Criteria

           

  • Experience of working in the community & voluntary sector.
  • Working knowledge of supporting people with communication and associated complex needs.
