Director of Music

Down and Connor Diocesan Trust is seeking to recruit a talented and committed musician to play a key role in the liturgical life of St Peter’s Cathedral as Director of the Schola Cantorum. The successful candidate will be a skilled musician and organist, experienced in choral direction and development, with a knowledge and understanding of liturgical music, particularly in Catholic Tradition.

Responsible to the Cathedral Administrator, the Director’s key role will be to rehearse and conduct the boys’ choir, building and developing the Schola’s skills through musical education. Building on the standards of excellence developed over the last 10 years. The Director will actively engage with local schools and parishes to maintain and enhance the schola’s membership.

The terms are based on a permanent appointment requiring 15 hours per week. Work pattern required will be Tuesday and Friday from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm each day and from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on a Sunday. Salary and other relative terms are available within the application pack.
