Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia.

About the role

Our Dementia Support Workers provide information, support and signposting to services for people with dementia and carers through information visits, support groups, information programmes and awareness raising activity. The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of the service in the Newry area, and will be the role manager for a team of volunteers who support the local services.

About you

We are looking for an individual with a strong understanding of dementia as well good organisational and time management skills. 

Your ability to assess client needs along with the understanding of the need for client confidentially is essential to providing a valuable and worthwhile service. You will have strong skills written and verbal communication and, with the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders and representing the needs of the organisation and clients.

Working across health and social care with a range of professionals to develop the service in accordance with the needs of the people we support, you will need a good understanding of dementia and proven ability to work in collaboration with external partners.

Excellent organisational and record keeping skills are essential, and experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies will be of huge benefit. 

As the Dementia Support Service reflects the needs of the people we support, you will be required to work some evenings and weekends. Come along and join us to play your part in developing and supporting this service to improve the lives of people affected by dementia.
