Purpose of the Role To be a welcoming and friendly helper, and an extra pair of hands, within our local Empowerment Group – supporting our members, who live with dementia, to be comfortably involved in the group sessions.
Tasks and responsibilities
  • Help the group facilitator set up the room prior to members arriving, and to tidy up after the session
  • Put up and remove Dementia NI signs throughout the venue
  • Welcome and reassure members upon arrival
  • Serve refreshments – making and serving tea and coffee
  • To chat to members, getting to know them and supporting them to settle into the group
  • Supporting members to engage with group discussions or activities

  Skills/experience required

· Friendly, positive, and approachable

· Ability to be empathetic, patient, and calm

· Good communication skills

· Committed to upholding members confidentiality

· Interest in learning more about dementia

· Good time keeping and reliable

Time commitment

Ideally, we are looking for individuals who can commit to supporting between one and four Empowerment Groups per month. The Enniskillen Group meets on Thursdays between 10.30am-12.30pm

· This role may be subject to a standard enhanced level ACCESS NI check. The role offers mileage and reasonable expenses cover as agreed with your volunteer recruitment manager.
