Dementia Empowerment Officer - Southern Trust

This post will be based in the Southern Health and Social Care Trust area.

Key responsibilities

• To develop Dementia Empowerment Groups in the designated catchment areas co-terminus with local Health and Social Care Trusts.
• To support people living with dementia to take an active part in the development of policy and practice in dementia support and care
• Contribute to the development of appropriate organisation policies and support the Programme Manager and Board to achieve the aims of the Dementia NI Strategic/Business Plan
• Recruit people with dementia to become members of Dementia NI in designated trust areas
• Attend and participate in internal and external meetings as required
• Develop and maintain appropriate professional relationships with members, their families, volunteers, colleagues and stakeholders.
• Promotion and marketing of the groups and the organisation through social media, website and local media outlets, such as radio stations, newspapers, direct mailings and so on.
• Collaborative working – represent the charity at steering groups and external events, and act as a champion for Dementia NI
• Signposting members and their families to relevant and appropriate services
• Gathering stories and case studies from members for use on the website and other media outlets
• Develop and deliver dementia awareness workshops in conjunction with members
• Organising and supporting NI wide awareness raising events and gatherings
