This role will support Housing First services users to reintegrate into their local community and will help support people to remain in their homes and prevent a relapse into homelessness.

Community Integration and Befriending Support Worker

Belfast (travel to NI services required)

Fixed-term for one year

The Role:

  • Oversee the running of a Befriending Programme to support individuals overcome social isolation
  • Providing practical support helping people move into a new home, maintaining that home and assisting with creating a social network in the community
  • Work with service users to build a network of support to assist with social connectedness and help individuals settle into their home
  • Empowering people to live their own lives, build their confidence, reconnect with family and friends and provide practical advice and support as needed
  • Support individuals  with community-based companionship
  • Work with individuals to regain a place in their local community through re-education of self-behaviour and actions

The Person:

  • 1 years’ experience in the homelessness, community or volunteering sector
  • 3 GCSES to include English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel to produce reports
  • Ability to work in a low threshold environment, working with individuals with challenging and complex needs
  • Full driving licence and access to a car insured for business purposes*
