Location:              Skainos Square, 239 Newtownards Road, Belfast
Hours of work:         37.5 per week
Leave:                    22 days plus 12 statutory days
Pension:                National Employee Savings Trust (NEST) Pension Scheme
Health Care:         An employee health care plan is available after successful probation
Probation:             This post is subject to a 6 month probationary period.  The Company reserves the right to extend this probationary period.  
Contract term:          End March 2022

Job purpose

Main Purpose
The CFSP Senior Employability Mentor is responsible for delivery of employability elements of the Community Family Support Programme as well as designing and delivering a needs-led programme to develop positive outcomes for CFSP participants within East Belfast.

As the East Belfast Delivery partner for CFSP, the Senior Employability Mentor will be responsible for line managing the East Belfast Mission mentoring team, ensuring CFSP’s is delivered effectively, efficiently and objectives are met.

Principal Duties

1.    Oversee East Belfast delivery:
a.    Assist CFSP Co-ordinator to plan, implement and oversee delivery of CFSP within East Belfast, ensuring that targets are achieved.
b.    Ensure effective caseload management and manage caseloads of mentors on leave.
c.    Ensure quality standards of mentoring practices are consistent throughout the team and referring issues in mentoring to Employability manager or CFSP Co-ordinator as they arise.
d.    Line manage mentoring staff including attendance and leave management, staff development and monthly supervision that measures results against targets, maintaining a motivated and committed team within a target-driven environment and resolving issues should they occur.
e.    Assist Employability Manager / CFSP co-ordinator to undertake reviews of delivery within East Belfast Mission and devise an operational plan for the programme.

 


2.    Communications and Information Management
a.    Manage communication and information flows between CFSP staff including, Employability Manager, CFSP Co-ordinator, Training Officer and Quality Assurance Officer.
b.    Act as the point of contact with the Training Officer to plan training calendar for programme delivery in East Belfast Mission.
c.    Act as the point of contact with the Quality Assurance Officer to co-ordinate audits.
d.    Ensure effective implementation of ESF information management systems which includes ensuring information is continuously updated and accurate pertaining to delivery in East Belfast.
e.    Collate, prepare and work with colleagues to verify monthly claims, evidence and reports.

Mentoring Duties and Responsibilities:-

1.    Recruit eligible participants onto the programme focusing on engagement, retention and achievement of positive outcomes.

2.    Carry out a detailed risk, needs and barriers assessments on the issues affecting individual participants.

3.    Based on risk and needs assessments; create and agree an action plan outlining support requirements, issues, actions and timescales to achieve positive outcomes.

4.    Implement participant action plans and record outcomes when achieved.

5.    Undertake direct work with families in their homes and the community which safeguards and promotes the positive development of children, young people and parents using a solution focused approach.

6.    One-to-one support and interventions on presenting issues/needs.

7.    Work in a confidential and professional manner that ensures family welfare and safety is of paramount importance.

8.    Respond to sensitive issues in a confidential manner subject to safeguarding guidelines.

9.    To signpost participants to the range of specialist agencies, support services and activities on offer to develop solutions to barriers.

10.    Effectively manage caseload and provide professional focused advice to participants referring to other agencies/organisations as required as part of their individual action plan.

11.    Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with schools and relevant statutory, community and voluntary organisations.

12.    Work in an integrated manner with other East Belfast Mission team members and with other relevant service providers.

13.    Undertake ongoing evaluation of outcomes and impacts of both specific interventions as well as the programme overall in terms of progressing participants.

14.    Design programme delivery based on participant action plans, establish a budget with Co-ordinator and Training Officer.

15.    Deliver group programmes based on identified participant needs.
